These Mid-South Region activities in South Korea are more toward the southern region that are a few hours north from Geoje Island in the south.  Get your hiking gear ready to hike Jirisan especially during spring or fall to see amazing color.  There is nothing like walking through the forest to hear the rustling of the wind through the trees along with birds singing.  Keep your eyes out of deer, bears, snakes and more.

I once read: ” where humans live in complete harmony with nature”.  For me to accomplish this harmony was to hike multiple days a week.  The hardest and best part on occasion was finding the beginning of the trail.  Lots of time it is up a road behind a house with no signs.  That is what made hiking more fun, was to find the path and make it to the peak to take a picture with the monument on the peak.  Lots of times you must share the peak with locals and take pictures with them.  Make sure when you pack your lunch to inclue more food to share with others.  Thanks to a great group of Ladies that helped me make it to many peaks along with other adventures.

There are many temples in South Korea along with Festivals.  These festivals are fun to go and immerse yourself in the Korean culture.  Grab a road map and try to go during the week otherwise arrive early to find a parking place.  Pack a lunch with water.  Sometimes being a foreigner and not speaking the language it is hard to find a restaurant.  Plus some restaurants close right after lunch until dinner.

Subway in Busan South Korea

Busan Transportation Directions…Car/Bus/Subway

This was written for the many Expat wives that needed directions from Geoje Island to Busan where there was shopping.  It also explains how to use the subway system.  If you are in Seoul stop by the Transportation Authority office and they will be more than helpful to hand you an english map.  Seoul has many subway lines which can be confusing.  Plan your route ahead of time and make sure your standing on the correct side going in the right direction.  I have been known to go the wrong way, get off and finally head the right way.  All in the fun of adventure.
