Cruise Hacks

Cruise Luggage Tags

Love these Cruise Luggage Tags which I placed on my suitcase when arriving at the cruise terminal.  No need to have them on your suitcase when you fly.  Tip is to have them all ready with your stateroom location already printed up from your cruise itinerary then insert into these tags so all you need to do is just put them all.  It is a little crazy with a lot of activity at the terminal so it works best to be ready ahead of time.  Make sure to check cruise information to find the right size for your cruise or sometimes information is located in the Q&A section on amazon for each tag.

Cruise Lanyard & Card Holder

It is not silly to wear you Cruise Lanyard ID card around your neck.  This makes the card accessible to get into your rooms or charge for extra items.  You will see plenty of frequent cruisers already decked out with their colorful lanyards.

Plastic covers for cruise ship ID’s vary in size depending on the cruise line so check ahead to confirm correct size.

Wrist ID Holder + card/money holder

I loved my wrist ID Holder.  Worked perfectly except my lime green one didn’t always match my outfits but there are loads of colors to choose from.  I purchased mine at the ship store for a small amount of money.  This way you know that it is the right size for your Cruise ID.

Over the Door Organizer 15 Pocket

This netted Over the Door Organizer is a hit.  Hangs over the door in the stateroom that is perfect for loose items, ID’s, toiletries, and more.  This kept my room free of clutter with everything accessible.  A definite space saver especially if the state room is small in size.

3 Outlet Mini Travel Charger with USB Ports

There are very few outlets in a stateroom, but this charger has you covered with plenty of plugs on the adaptor including a USB plug.  That way you can charge you camera and phones all at once.

Clips to Hold Towels on Chairs

These clips work great for keeping pool towels attached to deck chairs plus is used to attach your clothes to a clothes line to dry in the room.  It can even be used to hold papers together and keep the room tidy.

Travel Laundry Liquid Detergent

These travel laundry detergent packets are the right size to wash a sink full of clothes.  I use 1 packet to wash clothes in the morning, hang them up with my trusty clips above then, they dry overnight to use again the next day.  Works very well with clothes that wash and dry quickly.

Sink Stopper

A must have if you want to stop up the sink to wash clothes.  I have previously tried using a washcloth to stop the sink up which does not work.  Now my sink stopper goes with me on all my travels.

Extra Hangers

Staterooms have only a few hangers in the closet and extra hangers will come in handy.  I have actually taken regular plastic hangers in my suitcase and then left them there.  On my next cruise I want to try these foldable hangers.  They look like they take up less room plus work well when I dry my clothes.

Portable Small Desk Fan USB rechargeable

Rooms on a ship can get very stuffy.  A small portable fan to help keep the air moving in your stateroom is nice since the rooms can get warm.  The fan can also provide a soft constant sound which helps keep out other noises out at night to encourage sleep.  This fan just needs to be charged with a USB port.

Universal Waterproof Case for phones

Cellphones are expensive and I am definitely an advocate for protecting my phone.  These protectors kept my phone dry while riding on the boat in Niagara Falls and on a cruise excursion during the rain all the while still able to take some great photos through it.

Packable Waterproof Rain Jacket

There are times you just want to enjoy the scenery taking photos or you’re doing a lot of walking and the rain starts.  You want your hands free, not holding an umbrella, which gives one the option to use your hands for something else.

Selfie Stick

A selfie stick is great to get group photo shots or you in the photo with a great background.  My favorite features about this one is the blue tooth pairing and how small it folds up when done.  My travel bag includes 2 one for my Mr. 1AdventureTraveler and one for myself.

Travel Clothes

Travel Clothes are the best for travel.  Clothes that do not wrinkle along with dri-fit technology.  These types of clothes dry quickly, which makes them good for washing and hand dry on a cruise or for any travel.

Women Buff Headwear

Cruises can be a bit windy when out on deck.  I’m all about having my trusty UV Headwear that will keep my hair out of my face.  These can be used a few different ways.  Use one like a headband to keep the hair out of your face or a face shield buff to keep the sun off the face and neck.  The plus is that it has UV technology so no sunscreen on those areas while wearing this.

Envelopes for Tips

Cruise staff work hard and tips are always welcome at the end of the cruise.  I take along envelopes to place money in for the stateroom steward, favorite Bartender, wait staff or anyone else at the end of the cruise.  Those you can fill with money ahead of time, so one is not at the last minute looking for smaller money bills.

Travel Tip:  The Cruise Ship Carry-on

Carry-on’s fall into two categories.  One to use while boarding a plane verses one to use when boarding a cruise ship.  They both serve the same purpose, to provide the necessary or needed items for the trip but there is a difference.

-When cruising my Carry-On that I board with includes my #1 item, a bathing suit no matter what time of the year.  Also included are my clothes for that day, lanyard for cruise ID, sandals and an evening items just in case my luggage does not arrive before dinner.  Do not forget the shoes and maybe a good book.

-Checked in bags usually don’t get delivered until late afternoon so the ability to have clothes for the day and dinner is a plus.
